Coastal Navigation Course

  • Taking a position fix
  • Dead Reckoning
  • Loran
  • GPS and radar basics
  • Charting a course
  • Using plotting tools
  • Time, speed, and distance calculations
  • Fuel calculations
  • Using a compass
  • Marine time conversion and cruise
    planning

Coastal Radar Course
2011

Course Topics Include:

  • Safe and efficient use of small-craft radar for:
    • piloting
    • chart navigation
    • collision avoidance
  • Radar principles
  • Pratical matters of radar operation

After completion of the class, students will have a solid working knowledge of radar and an increased level of confidence when boating in restricted visibility

Course is taught by: A State-certifed instructor with many years of personal boating experience. All students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this course.
